Sigma-Tel driver update problem

  cowgirl66 18:30 28 Jun 07

Windows Update found new Audio drivers for my Vista - Sigma-Tel High Definition Audio Codec, and now I have no sound. A friend of mine installed the same drivers on his computer, the same as mine, with no problem and it seems his graphics base score is .1 higher than mine. I want to install the drivers safely and get my sound back so does anyone have any help?. Could it be that the sound has been turned off somewhere other than in the settings?

Hiya cowgirl66, try this:-

Click the Start button, then on Help and Support, then Troubleshooting, and finally under the Hardware and drivers heading select 'Troubleshoot sound problems'

Work your way through that lot and see what you can find.

Thanks for your help. The latest news since I wrote in here is that I visited the Gateway website and found the Sigma-Tel driver in there too under updates.

I reinstalled the driver from there and after following the set-up instructions, I'm happy to say now I have sound again!
