Restoring Win 8 from a different laptop

Hi Everyone,

I have a Win8 laptop, the reason this problem occurred was that I put an SSD in it. Created a restore and then used the migration tool. The migration worked ish but with alot of partitions and took alot of space. The restore usb corrupted and creating a new one as its migrated in a weird way doesnt work. A friend bought the exact same laptop, same time, place ect. Would creating a restore of that work ? Just want Win 8 and start again.

Thanks Doug

If its the same make model using a set of recover/restore disk should work these are used in case the hard drive fails.

You could also create a full backup copy of your friends hard drive to restore yours, remember to create a backup of the full HD as sometimes a small partition at the front of the drive is used to store the OS boot and recovery set up.

Which type of restore/backup should I use ? I don't have the disk and if I try to reset it says 'missing files' and cannot be done.
