I'm trying to upgrade my pc to windows Vista. When installing from windows Xp, I get this error message:-

This computer is not compliant with the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) standard. Windows must be installed onto a computer that supports ACPI. Contact your computer manufacturer for a BIOS update or install Windows on an ACPI-compliant computer.

The Motherboard I am using is ECS P4VXASD2+. I have also updated the bios. In the bios settings I also made sure the ACPI is Enabled.

Please help!

How old is your machine? This rather suggests there could be more to it than the BIOS. click here

Around 5 years old. Its P4 1.8mhz.

I would have thought Vista on a machine that old is a non-starter. Sorry :(

I agree, what did the Vista upgrade advisor say when you ran it?
