pc starts then stops (only when power on from wall switch)

Hiya

I have just got a refurbished workstation with windows7 (64 bit).

When I switch the power on from the wall socket the computer starts up then stops. I then press the power button on the computer and it starts up lovely.

If I shut the computer down and leave the power supply from the wall socket ON, it will start fine next time I press the computer on button. BUT, if I switch the power supply from the wall socket OFF, then the next time i turn the wall socket on, the computer will start and then stop... until I press the computer power button.

Any Ideas???

Thanks

It's just the power going through to motherboard and fans make noise for a couple secs then goes quiet (light on motherboard will be on). It's not Windows starting up, I have to press power button on pc to start Windows. My motherboard has always done this.

Yep mine does this too! I switch the power/fan switch at the back off though when switching the computer off. Then when switching it on,I switch the power switch on,let it do it's thing and then boot windows from the tower!

Ok.. Thanks all..

As I've never had any of my other pc's do this, I was just a little mystified.

Learn something new every day eh...even little basic stuff :)

Thanks again
