Miss-spelt windows 8.1 sign-in information

Have just bought a new Laptop and when trying to verify my email I must have miss-spelt it. Now I can't verify it as has a non existing email address where it is sending the code. If that makes sense? I have tried disconnecting my Microsoft account and logging back in on a local account and then back in with Microsoft but it is still showing the wrong address. I got this information from this site as I am not very conversant with pc jargon. Can anyone help please?

When you created the local account did you log off then log in again before changing back to a Microsoft account? Another way is to create a new account, settings, change pc settings, accounts, other accounts, then ' + Add an account'. Carefully type the email address and password. Once up and running change the old account to a local one again. Always worth having two accounts just for backup purposes anyway.

As an aside and as it's a laptop make sure you create the 'return to factory' medium as soon as possible.
