Iolo System Mechanic with win7

I have system mechanic program which supposes to keep pc running well which to a point it does but because I use outlook 2003 as email client it now jams as it wants to clear attachment cache, I presume Outlook will not let it. Any ideas of an easy way to clear cache or can I remove Outlook 2003( part of office 2003) and use another email client. Systme mecnahic is ok on laptop with xp, Avast running on both machines.

I run System Mechanic on Win7 64bit without any problems and using Windows Live Mail as my programme.

You could set up a Googlemail account and use that to collect your emails online. Thunderbird is also a good email client.

Thanks for the reply, it is that system mechanic will not clear clutter and stalls on outlook cache. All other tools appear ok. Iolo say remove and unistall but surely that would still pick up the same problem, also the remove appears to be more complicated. Any further ideas or suggestions appreciated.

It's certainly a problem I have never heard of before. Quite how Outlook cache could disrupt SM is something only SM would know about. I'm surprised they haven't issued a warning about this, considering the fact that there must be an awful lot of people out there using this combination.

All I could suggest is to:

  1. Save all your Outlook data (accounts, emails etc.)
  2. Uninstall Outlook
  3. Run SM and see if it works
  4. Depending on the results, either use a different email client or reinstall Outlook (latest version)

Good luck
