Want to connect to broadband using the ethernet connection. Plugged in first time - no problem - worked like a dream. Shut down computer (changed nothing!) and now although power light on, no data lights and my icon tray says Networked Cable unplugged which it isn't!! Do I need to change settings somewhere. would be grateful for anyone's help before I throw the bally thing out the window..... :)

I assume you mean no data light ie internet connection on your router?

Try turning off the router (and PC of course) unplug the ethernet on the router wait 30 seconds and try again. It sounds like your router is not syncing with your BB connection.

Thanks for that anskyber - have got my connection back again - am I going to have to disconnect everytime I switch off my notebook?

It should be OK. There may have been a temporary fault on your line which is unrelated to your laptop.

Just try and see!
