I don't want Hard Drives powered down

  ened 08:45 29 Dec 07

Under the power options the Hard Drives can be turned off after a period of inactivity.

I have three drives - 2 internal, 1 external - and unless I have used all of them it seems there is a delay every time I open a programme which might need access to one of them.

Is there a way of disabling this feature?

Which OS? In Vista this can be done under advanced settings and set to never.

Duh! I`m in the Vista Forum! Right click the Desktop and select Personalize, then select Screensaver and then Power options. Under your Power Plan click the words "Change Plan Settings" Click the + sign next to Hard Drives, then the next + sign and REDUCE the number of minutes down to find "Never". (Excuse the capitals)

Alternatively increase the number of minutes to something beyond what you consider an inconvenience.

I have been going the other way to look for Never.

What a prat!

That`s Microsoft for you. Like selecting Start to turn off the computer. Have a good one yourself!
