how to disable AVG

  Teaboy 24 Oct 09

I have to disable AVG before upgrading to Win 7.

Cannot see how this is done.

Help anyone?

Many thanks.

Would advise that you do a fresh install of Win7 and not do an upgrade

Make sure that you have ALL the XP or Vista drivers for your computer before you even think about install Win7

many thanks for the info. I thought I would try an upgrade first as I recently re-installed vista on my 64bit machine, and it is impossible to get it any cleaner than it is, or more up to date. Hence worth a try.

If it bellies-up on the up-grade then a clean install would have to be done.

I understand several members have had to do this.

AVG on their site have a tool for the complete removal of AVG.
Downloading later and reinstalling takes very little time.

I asked the same question recently and had this reply from Sea Urchin: For AVG - open user interface and double-click Resident Shield - uncheck box beside Resident Shield Active and click Save Changes.
It seems to work

Thank you for that. I've checked it through and it does the job. Many thanks.
