Have you contacted the vendor to tell them of the probelem and have they confirmed that they installed a genuine version of Windows Vista? That is the first thing you should do. If not then it sounds as if you have been sold a pup and need to buy a genuine Windows Vista key which you can do so from Microsoft - just avoid any dodgy cheap keys you may see on line. Invariably they are fakes too and will show up again in 2-3 months.

You might want to read this from Microsoft

If their is any way to re-load Vista do it. If you can re-load windows, or Vista on top of itself it might help. At this point anything can't hurt.

After this is over get something like Norton Ghost 12 and do a complete back up to a seperate back up to a seperate location and then you can recover to that location. I know its too late now. I use Norton Ghost 12. Their are also a lot of other programs that will do the same thing.

Best of luck.
