Greek Fonts Come Out Looking Like Times New Roman!

Many times, I've downloaded and tried to use different Greek fonts, but they come out every time looking like Times New Roman (Western, serif).

One website says that if I can see a certain font (on the page) in Greek letters, then I have a polytonic font installed--whatever that means--but I take that to mean that I should be able to use Greek fonts. I can't.

What's going on here?

Any advise greatly appreciated.

More info please. What program and version? Did you download the fonts into the 'fonts' folder?
