Here we go again.
A dredded error on a Windows update.
It seems to concern my Vidio driver (Nvidia).
I keep trying to install it but it continually fails. And now it keeps saying I have a download to install - all very annoying.

Any ideas please?

Try downloading it from nVidia direct. You can hide failed updates by right clicking on it in the download history list and hide it. You will no longer be reminded of it.

Use this link to find the most up to date nVidia drivers click here

It will probably be more up to date than the one Microsoft was trying to send you and once it is loaded you will probably stop getting 'nags' from Microsoft Update

It could also relate to SATA drivers, but I made a point of leaving these alone. If it ain't broke etc.....

I am dealing with a new Dell PC, so my info. is from their help site.

It does seem to refer to the nVidia MCP SATA controller. ( per the M/s info)

There is a new driver listed for the MCP dated September.
But there is another new driver listed for the graphics Card dated 06 11 07.
Both are listed as recommended.
In the Uninstall list (In the control) only one nVidia driver is listed.
So, what do you think I should do.

I assume that the old driver should be removed prior to installing a new one?

My PC is a Dell and I've had a few of these nVidia updates. I have ignored them all, just like I used to with XP. Everything still seems to be working.

Damn

I seems that this driver concerns a series 6 nVidia graphics card. Daft, because my card is a series 8 - hence the problem.
Microsoft cause a lot of apparent difficult problems still.

Don't be too quick to slate Microsoft - nVidia graphics drivers are the same for series 6, 7 & 8.

If you use the link I provide earlier it will list the most up to date driver for your graphics card and you will notice it is the same for earlier series.
