Dual Booting W7 and W8

I have bought the full edition of W8 Pro. I had partitioned my C drive so that I could install W8 on it but unfortunately it ran automatically from CD and overwrote my W7. So I had to reformat the hard drive and reinstall W7 and all my programs. My intention is to dual boot W8 with W7 as I have very important accounting programs which will not run on W8. I see from one question some time ago that it should work if I select Custom Install, but I wasn't given the opportunity. How do I stop the CD from running automatically so that I can do the Custom Install if that is the correct procedure to follow for Dual Booting.

Do it while booted to Windows 7. Insert the DVD and navigate to the Sources folder and run setup.exe from there. Beware using the setup.exe on the root of the DVD as this will more than likely upgrade Win 7, the one in sources folder gives more options.

If you boot from Win 8 DVD then you need to point to the correct partition to install as not to overwrite Win 7.
