Do I need a new graphics card?

My system failed t'other day. Had to reinstall Windows 7 onto a fresh SSD. Now my graphics card (Radeon 7800) will not be recongised, and believe me I've tried EVERYTHING - installing drivers, messing about in the BIOS, I just end up with a black screen at startup if I try to get AMD control system installed. So I'm stuck with the Standard VGA default. Is it worth picking up a cheap new one from ebay? Is that likely to solve my problem? Or perhaps the problem lies elsewhere?

Sorry, I've found that link while Googling and it's of no use

Have you tried removing and reseating the graphics card.

Have you checked you are getting enough power to the card.
