DEP and vista

  TeddyBear07 19:29 12 Jun 08

I currently own a laptop with Windows Vista Basic, and my problem is with the DEP (Data Execution Prevention). When I start up my laptop, messages appear saying the DEP has stopped some programs from working. When i go to enable these programs and stop DEP from blocking them, the options are greyed out, so i cannot do anything about them.

How can i sort this out? Any help would be appreciated.

The DEP can cause crashes and programmes not loading.
You will need to disable it.
1. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click on "Command Prompt", and click "Run as administrator".
2. If asked for permission to run Windows Command Processor, click on Allow.

3. At the command prompt, type in "bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff" (without the quotes).

4. You should receive a message saying "Operation Completed Successfully".

5. Restart the computer and DEP should now be disabled.
