Copying files from HDD - can't see partitions

I am currently running Windows Vista after my old laptop broke down. I rescued the hard drive, and have connected it via USB to my new desktop in order to copy some important files across. However, when I came to explore the connected hard drive, i can only see 1 of the 3 partitions; the one with the operating system built in. I couldn't tell you what system each of the partitions is using. Is there any way I could get onto these other partitions and copy the files over without being too destructive?
Many thanks
