Can anyone help my neighbour, bought a new computer 3 weeks ago Acer Desktop. Today will not boot up, rang up Acer and was told press F10 & Alt, did this, comes up loading windows files, then says insert windows disc, did that but will still not work and keeps going back to the loading windows item. However it now says windows failed to start, with \windosw\system32\boot\winlockex. Satus oxc0000221 then says the file is probably corrupt and says It's header checksum does not match the completed checksum. DEsperate for anyones help.

Acer usually have a hiddene recovery partition. have a look in all programs where it can usually be found under Acer (utilities) or some thing like that.

Tap F8 as the PC boots it should take you into safe mode and hopefully enough to open windows. click here

personally i would return the pc and ask for you money back or a replacement as it is not fit for purpose.

If you are unable to restore after following Acers instructions then there is probably a hardware problem maybe your ram.

Contact Acer and explain their solution did not work , you should have a 30 day no quibble money back gaurantee, after this time you will need to give them a chance to repair.
