Can't find slave HDD in "My Computer"

  allbrad 16:24 30 Jan 11

I have just completed a new build and all appeared fine untill I wanted to load data to the slave hard drive "D" - it just isn't showing up in My Computer. However, it is clearly visible in the bios as a slave.
I have a master HDD drive (c) for all programmes and want the slave (d) for all data. I also have two optical drives and an floppy so would have expected Windows to allocate drive letters accordingly.
All drives are SATA type (except for the floppy)so understand that there are no jumpoers to wory about to determin master or slave?
Can anyone help?

has it been formatted , go to start/control panal, then administrative tools /computer management/storage and finally disk management.
right lick and format it (default NTFS)
if that was the problem it should then be visable under (my computer).
