Boot problem

Vista Home Premium won't boot with external HD's running.

Go into your BIOS and find the item that enables boot from usb.

Enable it, but remember that not all USB external drives are bootable. If that won't work, it's best to power up the external drive AFTER loading Windows.

But I don't want to boot from USB.

Then just leave it powered off until Windows has loaded. Then switch your external drive on. Don't forget to use the safely remove hardware icon to stop the drive when you are finished using it. I only use mine for Acronis backups so only switch it on when performing these operations.
