For whatever reason my Sony VGN-TZ11MN with Vista has started crashing with the following message before rebooting DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL after which it gathers crash data and then reboots.
I have done a system restore as far back as possible yet is still continues.
Is this one of the reasons why so many people are switching to XP or should I persevere?
Any ideas o curing this problem would be welcome since I would like to persevere but there are limits!!

Try a Startup repair.
Start up repair Vista with the Vista DVD.

Without the disc and If Startup Repair is a preinstalled recovery option on your computer.

Then expand the section "how do I use Startup Repair?"

Have you tried looking in control panel>problem reports and solutions.
Could be a nic or other driver that needs updating,in which case it should show up here ,with the solution.

You could have a RAM problem check the memory sticks are seated in the slots or remove a memory stick and see what happens mind you are static free before touching the memory sticks.
