Hi there all. I am wanting to adjust first boot to CD of Linux OS How do I save the setting so that first boot is the cd rom. Each time I try it computer boots from hard drive. Surely it must be something THAT I AM DOING WRONG.

Normally make the changes in the boot order section of the BIOS and then save and exit (F10) to make the change complete.

Makes no difference what the op system is unless the BIOS is set to UEFI.

Hi there following the details I have. Still can't boot from CD ROM or DVD. Goes straight into boot my Windows XP again. Can anyone tell what may be wrong or what I am doing wrong? Thank you.

Sometimes this happens

try disabling HDD as boot and only enable the CD drive.

Don't forget to save and exit after making the changes by pressing F10 and Y to confirm.

Maybe DVD drive is not seeing or reading the disk.
