Adaware 007 won't run on Vista

  LinH 19:23 13 Jun 07

Just installed Adaware 2007 and guess what?

It works fine on my XP laptop but on my Vista desktop - no chance! It's not a case of the pogram running with compatibility issues, it won't run at all.

Anyone else experienced such a problem and if so, what is the answer?

Many thanks.

Thanks for that anskyber, it resolves the problem once and for all!

I'm beginning to wonder about Vista, I'm sure there wasn't these problems when XP was launched.

It's not a Vista issue, it's Lavasoft failing to meet the target of bringing out a new addition which is compliant.

Yes, you are quite right. However, the amount of incompatible software associated with Vista means that it's easier to return to XP and have everything work, than to persevere with it and wait for the relevant software fixes to be released.

Whatever the rights and wrongs it's a case of the path of least resistance.

It was worse when XP came out.

I've also discovered that AdAware 2007 doesn't work with Vista, atrangely the old SE version seems to be OK and I have re-installed that. Not sure how long it will be supported though.

Yes, I also found that the old SE works fine so have, like you, reinstalled it.

Odd isn't it?

Runs fine on my machine, Vista Home Premium, Core 2 T5500, 1GB RAM, Intel GMA 950. Did you try installing with UAC off, I think thats how I did mine
