Actixe X issues Running programs not in IE

I have Win 7 and need to run Quickbooks 8 for my accounts. I know it is an old version of QB. When I installed it all was fine, when I ran it there was always a runtime error, which I understand cannot be fixed. I opened it today and when I go into certain windows it now comes up with an error that says:

"This page provides potentially unsafe infomation to a active X control. Your current security settings prohibit running controls in this manner. As a result, this page might not display correctly."

And of course it does not. Before this happened I did not change any settings in anything. Now to get it working I have changed lots of things and even done a restore to a point weeks ago and still nothing. Also my copy of Photoshop CS does not load, it freezes on the start up screen. re installed both to no avail.
