It's been a long time since I have actually used one, but there still seem to be a lot of users out there.

Quite a few modern European (UK inculded) trains safety, signalling and security systems still require floppy drive use.

Must of us pc users use a floppy disk everyday, it normally the 'Save' icon, which is a "floppy disk"...

Maplin have an external drive still available @ £26 but how much longer?

  canarieslover 22:46 29 Apr 10

I must admit it was the list of other uses, apart from the normal save/load data, that amused me.

The only time I have used a floppy in the last few years was to load the drivers for a scsi drive when installing windows. Is there now a better way or does it still ask you to "insert disk into drive 'A'"? I had to go out and buy a USB floppy drive and I haven't used it since

last time i used a floppy was about three years ago using floppies from WH smith, i still hate using floppies because of the data being read or having data saved on it you know that sound.

I still search out original games on 3.5 inch floppy disk as well as download images to put onto blanks for my gaming habit.
