“Come and see what we can offer your child” Obviously not spelling lessons!
Seen in our local rag - the mind boggles!!

Oh dear! How embarrassing for them.

  BRYNIT 23:34 05 Mar 07

The question is who made the mistake? The school or the company who printed the add.

  Brumas 23:44 05 Mar 07

I could offer my services as Proof reader I suppose!
My trouble is that I am too observant, all these mistakes seem to jump out of the print at me, does anyone else have the same 'problem'?

  Belatucadrus 23:49 05 Mar 07

Check out the website, it looks rather expensive. I rather suspect the guilty party works at the local rag and never got to go there.

  Belatucadrus 23:50 05 Mar 07

Mind you I went to a decent scholl and I never lurnt to spell.

  Treebeard 00:14 06 Mar 07

Perhaps I should be careful here, although I am not naming names.

I am a teacher and have noticed several of my colleagues using incorrect spellings (eg, "knowone", believe it or not). This problem even extends to a Local Authority inspector ("practice", as a verb).

Add to that the not infrequent occurrence of bad spelling on the television, and it is little wonder that children cannot spell.

I am not saying that I am perfect - we all make mistakes - but with a little more care and a good dictionary...

I agree with you regarding bad spelling. It really catches my attention. By the way I can still see the phone number and URL,

  ashdav 00:44 06 Mar 07

Brumas got it right. It's spelt skool not scholl.
Ask Nigel Molesworth...

The school my daughter attended sent out notices, letters etc from time to time and each one I saw had at least two spelling / grammatical errors. Lead by example ?
