What a waste of time and effort.

Had four identical (i assume) e-mails inviting me to update the details on my non existent PayPal account today. Over the past few weeks, i've had numerous invitations to do this from other banks with whom i don't have internet accounts either. Needless to say, they just get deleted without being opened. It's both a waste of effort on there part and a waste of my time. Talk about phishing in the dark! Haven't they got better things to do?

It is not a waste of time on their part they are making millions of pounds.

They will literally send out hundreds of thousands of these each week. If they only get a response from 0.1% that still amounts to hundreds of identity fraud instances.

It's not called phishing for nothing.
