I bought a Creative VideoBlaster webcam about three or four years ago that came with software to use it for detection and recording purposes.

My web cam that I bought a few years ago also came with motion detection software that switches the camera on to record when it detects movement. It can also send the recorded files to an e-mail address or website. Nothing new, but it’s the first time I’ve heard that it’s recorded a burglar!

A question for the PCA jury--Did the webcam use reasonable force!.

  watchful 18:28 17 Feb 05

LOL.

  mole44 20:26 17 Feb 05

rumour has it the webcam breached the data protection act, lol.

no doubt the burgular will sue for breach of privacy as he wasnt warned that he may be caught on camera without his prior permission.

I wonder if the householder diplayed a prominent sign warning that recordings were being made? It could infringe the burglars human rights to anonymity whilst going about his business if not.

Is there an easy link to any free software that does as that guy's did?

In my office, at night, there are two PCs and two lappies that could do with an eye watching them. And if I'm honest, I didn't think of (or know about) that idea!
