Now that Microsoft Vista Business and Ultimate users can now replace Vista with XP pro - Perhaps THEY will now listen to the general public who are very unhappy with Vista Home (all versions) and provide a method where we home users who are totally fed up with Vista to go back to XP Pro.

I think MS are slowly getting there with their Bloatware but it should really be Freeware until the next OS is ' fit for purpose'; as they say in Trading Standards.

A barrow boy wouldn't get away with this selling v advertising farce.

As forum member say's there are a lot of people who are happy with vista and who think it is a great OS.
I believe it depends on what hardware configeration you have and what you use your pc for that ultimately determines whether vista rocks or sucks.
Someone who plays the very latest highend games, coupled with older printers, scanners e.t.c with driver support hard to come by won't be too pleased with it.Someone with a new pc with vista pre installed and with all the latest hardware e.t.c will be quite impressed, especially if they are not into gaming.
For some it works.
For some it sucks.

But XP is a good "all rounder" imho.

I think the problem with Vista is that it's ham-strung by having to be backward compatible with lots of old hardware.

Microsoft should have gone the same route as Apple and close off the backward compatibility at some point, this would have removed a lot of old code from Vista, making it leaner and probably quicker.

to the general public who are very unhappy with Vista Home (all versions)"

Really, since when? You must have access to statistics I haven't seen.

Some people may be unhappy with Vista, but that's not a revelation, or anything unusual - many people were unhappy with Windows XP when it was still in its infancy. We had lots of forum threads complaining about it, and many people saying that they wouldn't upgrade to XP under any circumstances. No doubt many of them are the same people who say they are unhappy with Vista. They'll probably be complaining about the next Windows version when it launches, and saying they want to go back to good old Vista.

Millions of people are far from unhappy with it however, which is a good thing - it's here to stay.

They have always been able to do that. All that's changed is that Microsoft has told manufacturers that they can now bundle an XP DVD with new Vista Ultimate and business version computers - if they want to.

"Millions of people are far from unhappy with it however, which is a good thing - it's here to stay." No it's not, there's a new one on the way not that far in the future.
