Nothing new in that horrible article, just a new method of broadcasting it. Similar scams were instigated in the years BC. It's part of the human condition.

There have been other similar cases in the past - notably after the 9/11 disaster. I knew of four similar cases then - all of them from people purporting to be lawyers with access to funds left by people killed in the twin towers.

It's simply another example of the lengths to which criminal minds will go, and should come as no surprise.
