it looks as if the plane has hit two houses. Apparently six people were on board...hope they are ok. Sky says there was possibly something wrong with the engines?

Afraid it looks bad with one house in ruins and a large fire.

This is in my near neighbourhood and the plane came down only several hundred metres from a large Hospital (Princess Royal) and Sainsburys at Locks bottom. This type of accident has long been feared as they built the new Hospital under Biggin Hill flight path. Now unfortunately it has become a reality.

i live near heathrow had one crash in early 70's with BA trident. then one the other day that one just fell short.

will be glad to move away from this area too many flights now too much noise, look forward to fog and strikes for peace and quiet.

often listen to the control tower on an airband radio and surprised we do not have disasters.

in the UK is by private helicopter. Closely followed by private light aircraft. This is mainly down to the relative skill levels of the pilots involved, and lack of training in emergency procedures. However, due to the low number of people involved, unless a celebrity is a victim or the aircraft has a notably spectacular prang, it rarely gets more than an odd line or two in the national news.

The two pilots involved in this afternoon's crash were, it has been stated, highly experienced and trained and tested to full passenger aircraft standards.

I've flown in many a small private plane operated by firms specialising in such travel and the standard of each and every pilot (including a number of female pilots) has been of the highest quality.
