UK not enforcing anti-spam legislation

I just read this on the Bigfoot anti-spam newsletter:

"UK IT leaders are saying the British government is not doing enough to address the issue of spam, Ken Young wrote for Ecommerce Times. There are numerous British spam laws but they have not been enforced, the report says. No legal action was taken to address any one of the 600 complaints sent to the Office of the Information Commissioner (ICO) during the last twelve months".

It seems that there is public apathy as regards spam. It is therefore not surprising that the UK authorities are not taking action.

Only public pressure on the ICO might bring about a change.

When you contact the Information Commissioners Office, it's always the same answer. Each case is investigated on its individual merits!.

All comes down to paying for expensive legal procedures, hence no further action.
