A recent post on another thread commented on the scripting of TV programmes.

During the US TV writers strike earlier this year I was amused to see that some of first programmes to be affected, and the most severe, were the live late night chat shows!

Obviously totally spontaneous, like the ITV Comedy Awards.

Rather than scripts it's the fake audience clapping and canned laughter that are just plain wrong!

All chat shows are as unscripted as the Morecambe and Wise & Tommy Cooper shows were.

A number of years ago, I and some of my colleagues were invited to a regular daily morning television chat show, regarding an item that was in the publics interest at that time. Looking at the show from the viewers side, it all appeared to be 'straight off the cuff'. In our case, it wasn't, we were 'primed' before we went on air :O(

Perhaps similar to the telephone saga's of recent times, and the wonders of television and radio. All doesn't seem possible!.
