Suffering from "carborexia"

If you're not worrying about the environment you'll be fretting about the economy, and if that's not doing your head in there's always the threat of terrorism, or whether you're having a 'normal' sex life, or drinking too much, or lingering too long in the pub, and so on, and so on.

We've become a nation of worriers, and the counselling and therapy businesses are booming.

I once sat in a restaurant in Brunei talking to a client about his business. Things were going OK, and he was in an expansive mood, relaxing with a big cigar and gazing out over the South China sea as night fell; he defined the word 'relaxed'. I asked him how he coped with the pressure of his business (oil), and the stresses it brought. "It's simple" he said "I leave the worrying to the people I owe money to".
