A Story of Courage

For anyone interested, a website worth visiting
click here. It`s showing the progress of a remarkable young lady in her attempt at creating a new round the world record in her trimaran. Where does such courage come from?

not because she's courageous - although she undoubtedly has guts, as anyone who has ever been to sea in an ocean racer will know - but because she has succeeded in making it to the top in a field where excellence is commonplace. As the father of two daughters I'm a supporter of women who get out and do well in any traditionally male-dominated arena, and although there have been some notable women sailors the world of lone ocean racing still tends to be a male thing.

On a computer-related note, the web site is an object lesson in how to present masses of information rapidly and concisely. It's interesting, in that it was designed and developed by Ellen's own company - or to be more precise, a company within the company that she set up with Mark Turner - her Project Director. It's hosted by one of the best business hosting companies in Europe, too.
