I can't find the link, but I am sure that I read somewhere that all the dancers are deaf (or maybe even deaf mutes) and that they follow instructtions from hearing helpers at the side of the stage.

jack, Yes, I learned both morse and semaphore while serving in landing craft. My morse was not very good probably because we never used it very often, but I can still do a bit of semaphore now. I have a very good friend who was a bunting tosser in the Andrew and when he comes in to the RNA Club and goes to the bar I always call him up and tell him that mine's a dark and stormy. Funnily enough there are not many matelots who know it these days are there? Do they use mobile phones at sea?

The fact that the Dancers (all 21) are Deaf may have escaped our attention.

It does mention in the article that the dancers are deaf and rely on signals from off stage.
