A small bit of cheer for some?

From the 1st of December this year Customs duty will be relaxed on items costing under £105 and bought online from outside the EU. Unfortunately, VAT will still be charged on some items costing over £18. click here

It is mooted by some that tax cuts will be announced soon by the Chancellor and that VAT could be one of them. I have my doubts on that one but I have been known to get it wrong from time to time. ;o) TC.

So no change at 7dayshop then? There was talk that the Government was aiming to end this tax advantage for various products bought from the Channel Islands.

By the way, I understood that the EU would frown on any changes made to VAT that were not in harmony with other European countries?

They can frown on it all they like but until, God forbid, we get tax harmony it is quite permissible.
