Should she stay or should she go?

They are going to remove Britannia from all coins.

So. is it time for a change or should we keep her?

  dagbladet 11:25 01 Feb 08

Every now and again someone will get a shiny new coin in their change at the pub and say, "ooh look, a bridge/the Olympics/a rugby ball" etc. We will pass it round and 'ooh' and 'ah' at it, whereupon until it happens again I will for the most part be entirely ignorant of what is on the coins.

As long as it is still accepted where I want to spend it does it matter what picture is on it?

What annoys me is shpos that will not accept legal tender, had a Scottish tenner rejected last week in a well known chain of chemists (not Boots) when trying to pay for a perscription.

  Jpeg6785 12:01 01 Feb 08

Scottish notes are actually not legal tender in England at the moment, only Bank of England notes are, and shops do have the right to refuse them unfortunately.

  dagbladet 12:01 01 Feb 08

Scottish money is not in the legal sense 'legal tender', not even in Scotland.

Keep it, it is part of the GB history

  Pesala 12:13 01 Feb 08

Scrap it. It's out of date. Britannia no longer rules the waves, nor the world.

There is a strong echo on this thread.

As soon as I post as above all the double entries disappear, off to specsavers I think.
