A "new" tablet reviewed.

The review itself is quite clever if you take the time to read it.

I actually remember building the ZX80 the first offering from Cambridge. The hump was good for keeping your coffee warm, as you tried to type lengthy lines of BASIC on the tiny keyboard.

I thi k it cost me around £250.00 a lot of money back then

You don't actually realise how much that was until you try works it out as number of weeks salary!

Scary isn't it.......I was so excited waiting for the parcel to arrive......remember it vividly:))

Interesting that- I can just recall them- but went for the Atari ST-- later- things had moved on a bit by then. By the way YOU ALL did notice the date didn't you? But fin to see.

  Crosstrainer2 10:03 27 Aug 11

Actually, I think that date may be wrong....Seems to me that the ZX80 came along earlier. I had an ST also...What was referred to as a "Mega" ST because it had (yes folks) 1 MB (yep...MB not GB) of Ram.

Consensus at the time was that the Atari was best at music and the Vic / range had the edge in graphics.....Those were the day's!

My Speccies (48k, 128k and +2) all still work, with add ons like the Kempston joystick and unit for adding "Pokes" I get them out occasionally for hours of fun and nostalgia.

Peek and Poke,,,,,,Buy the latest mag, spend a couple of hours typing in the "Comes with free new blockbuster game" Only to realise that typo's had spoiled the fun!

From there, I found myself running 2 DEC PDP 11's...(groans)

A friend of mine still has an Atari ST in his studio as a MIDI controller connected to some old Linn Drums, the rest of his studio mainly consists of a couple of PowerMacs and a few MacBook Pros.

Very different from when we put the studio together 25 years ago, then he had a Tascam 8 track recorder and a no-name mixing desk...
