Quick road tax question

  VNAM75 21:15 26 Nov 08

My roadtax expires at the end of this month but my insurance certificate only covers until dec 15th 08. Is there a minimum period it needs to cover or does it just need to be valid on the day you purchase the roadtax?

I have in the past taxed the car on the day before insurance expiry.

Thanks for that.

I was asking because a post office once told me that the insurance had to cover the month in which the tax disc starts.

  Bingalau 21:50 26 Nov 08

I think that the person who told you that was correct.

I think so too, but it was a number of years ago though.

if cover is insufficient, it will not let you do it. Simple as that.

The insurance must be valid on the day the tax disc comes into force.

"The insurance must be valid on the day the tax disc comes into force." That clarifies it, thanks.

My local post office won't issue a tax disc with less than a fortnight on the insurance, so I now buy my tax online...
