saturday tax girlfriends car,all docs,credit card
no problem,well, when asked how i was going to pay
showed credit card, no sorry can not take that,have you got a debit card, sorry no waiting
for new one,cheque book no,nip back home get it,
walking back in thought she is going to ask for a card to support the cheque,but no passed over cheque ok gave me tax disc all done,this can not be right i could have found this cheque book on
car park,even the name did not match any of the documents she saw,ie girlfriends name is black
name on cheque white
am i missing something

I think if the cheque had been a stolen one it would be easy to trace and your girlfriend would get a visit from the boys in blue.

You can use a credit card online, but there is a fee.

wis - did you actually read the paperwork that came with the tax disc application. It states very clearly that post offices don't take credit cards. As for the cheque payment, that was quite lax, but as lotvic says, if the cheque was returned unpaid the police will have a fairly good idea where to go looking for the culprit, and seeing as it's a government agency that's losing out, they will come looking...

Since the car is also untaxed they will also probably confiscate it!
