I read years ago that there was a place in the south of Eire that's never had snow in known memory. Is that still the case?

We're in a green bit!

It's probably because of the Gulf Stream.

West Coast of Scotland does well for Palm Trees I think.

If memory serves, the place you mean is Garmish Island just off the south coast near Glengariff (not sure of spelling) not far from Bantry bay.

I spent a wonderful holiday there with my late parents some 58 years ago. Dad and I were rowed out by one of the local fishermen during the evenings to catch mackerel which my Mum would then cook. If I had known the delights of Guinness in those days, I would probably have never left.

Sounds to good to be true. And Guinness as well?
