Been looking at Physios around our area, and decided to look up what the letters stand for which are after there name. I have Googled without success, can anyone suggest any sites were I can find what they stand for?

Many Physios put letters after their name to persuade you that they know what they are doing. Do not rely on a qualification, genuine or otherwise, to decide which is worth a visit.

However, separating the Quacks from the Experts is something of a minefield, with your mobility as the testing ground.

The words 'Physical Therapist' & 'Physiotherapist' are protected by the Health & Care Professions Council.

Look for membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.

Years ago, when my wife worked for a physio, I think there was another body but it looks as though they have merged because her former employer is now a CSP.

Perhaps your GP practise would be able to provide information or a list of recommended physio names, even those specialising in sport injuries?.
