It appears that, under Delaware Law, the Head Teacher would have been liable to be sacked, had she not confiscated the Camping tool.


Almost all Legislation has unintended consequences. It is up to the State to foresee these and produce some form of let-out Clause.

There are two issues here

1. A six year old being sent to school by his parents with a metal bladed knife. (The Times newspaper claims to show the knife which the weblink does not and it can be compared with a swiss army knife blade)

2. The total overreaction of the school to the situation.

Common sense would have dictated that the knife be confiscated and the parents spoken to about their lack of judgement.
