PC security licences

  PC Advisor 14:23 01 Sep 09

Licences for security suites and antivirus packages often allow you to install the software on more than one PC in the household. How many PCs/laptops are you using your licence across?

Vote in the poll in the left-hand navigation bar, and discuss the results here.

I use 1 software licence on 1 PC/Laptop,as I use free software and create accounts for each machine.

(Hope that makes sense, each machine has its own account with the software supplier)

PC Tools Spydoctor with Anti Virus, (paid). On desktop (dual boot with Windows 7RC), laptop and netbook. Have to say well worth the £20 per year. Have got AVG free installed on the Windows 7, because PC Tools won't work with 64bit version yet! Hopefully they will get the 64 bit version up and running before October!!

Office Student and Nortons 360 3 licences desktop and 2 portables

I've got two separate licences for Avast free on my two laptops.

One laptop has the free version of Zone Alarm and one has Zone Alarm Pro from when they had the free birthday offer a while back, it'll revert to the free licence when the licence expires, or I may just use the Vista firewall, which is more than adequate to be honest...

Pretty meaningless without knowing how many computers there are in the household in the first place.

I have Norton 360 v3, having been on the beta test, installed on my pc and my partner's laptop.

I'm amazed that people are using one license across more than 4 pcs. I thought Norton etc only allowed up to 3 in one household.

2 AVG Free "licences" running on 1 computer. I guess this is not very relevant to free software users.
