Hi all -

I generally spend a lot of time on the computer and so am looking for a decent office chair, preferably for under £100.

I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions as im a bit stuck for choice?

Argos/Staples/Ryman /PC World sell all sorts at all sorts of prices far less than the £100 mark]they are all sourced from China and of somewhat dubious quality in my opinion.

My quite excellent chair cost £45 from a used office equipment warehouse- and when the gas strut failed after a year - they swapped it no questions asked for another better chair.
Got anything like that near you?

would fit the bill. To be honest, if you spend a lot of time in a chair it's worth getting the best one you can afford. Have a look at some of the other chairs on the site - particularly the ergonomic models.

If you want the best office chair you should look at the Hermann Miller Aeron chair.

They're not cheap, but I spent some time working for a firm who splashed out on these for their database operators, and I can vouch that after a 12 hour shift I felt as fresh as when I started.

Is leather always best (comfort wise)?

No, not in the summer.

I was given an expensive leather office chair after its owner sadly died.

Even though it was only about four years old the gas strut had failed, so I had it replaced at a local office furniture and supplies specialist.

Cost? Just £16.10...:-)

I like one with arms wide enough to rest my forearm on, it takes the strain out of your mouse wrist.

click here looks remarkable like the one FE suggests - if you don't like it there are more on Viking's site.

just tried the slices thing on ie8 re the address in london for the chair shop off great portman st well it failed it showed a map of the uk in live maps and that was it. i know i could have zoomed it manualy as i know were it is but thought IE8 would have done that.

Have you got a Costco near you. got a very comfortable from them last year. Think it was £69. arms wide enough to rest forearms on which as citadel says does take the strain of your mouse wrist and I am typing this without having to take my elbows off the arms.
