Surface Pro (2017) vs Surface Pro 4
Never said this before but I for one found this moths PCA very good indeed. Probably because there was so much that actually interested me. Normally theres loads of articles that are interesting enough but just not my cup of tea. This months was different.
I particularly liked the anti virus tests, nice to keep up to date with that, sad you didn't include the free AVG and AVAST in your tests but you can't have everything.
Also the graohics card reviews were particularly well done, the inclusion of the framerates at the bottom of the pages with different games is a stoke of genius. To be honest with you the previous graphics card reviews with just some comments on the subject were pretty useless as you had to go look up on the net what they cards were actually like. This is a great improvement.
The bargain PCs article was also welcome as theres always people I know looking for something just like this as many have no interest in games and high powered applications. And I've even read the How to ... sections as they were quite interesting.
And a mention of my petition was welcome as well, shame I didn't get more signatures but nice to have a mention again even if I don't get a prize.
Just wanted to say well done. Its the best magazine I have seen for a while although I may be saying this as most of the subjects interested me this month.
Fruit Bat /\0/\ no thats not it.
I've been mentioned before (never won a prize or got a gift though - tightwads at PCA I think, never so much as a paperclip).
No, its just the mag usually has tons of stuff I'm not even interested in reading. I think this months was better, particularly the way they did the graphics reviews as I said.
I've not read it all yet but it just seems to me that theres a lot in it this month thats interesting to me and this is unusual. So much so I felt I had to comment on it.
Hope its not a one off.
Well if its that good, I will need to spend extra time in WH Smiths, Asda or Tesco next week.
On second thoughts, looks like Asda.A chair and table from the garden section, plus a piece of sample pizza from the deli, should about do it, for a nice read ;o)
Come on Guys. Please don't say things like "this months PCA very good indeed" This month is May.
I have already got the June and July 2007 issues of PCA, which I haven't read yet.
Which one are you talking about?
Julys issue, got it yesterday at the newsagents.
Maybe its just that I liked these particular articles.
Not a subscriber? Shame!
Spark6 not I'm not a subscriber, I prefer to get it at my local newsagents. I was a subscriber but had a couple of slight problems so I never renewed it. Besides it gives me an excuse to rummage through all the mags at my newsagent every month. You never know what you'll find.
There were a few subscribers a couple of months ago who had their noses well out of joint as there was a disk that was included with the mag in the shops but was not given to subscribers.
Just mentioning it, doesn't make much difference to me as the disks normally go straight in the bin anyway.
I'm not alone then, I tend to buy it when I see something of interest to me.
Funnily enough I am just the opposite, thinking of cacelling my subscription.
PCA seeme to be including more and more non-computer stuff, even though it may be loosely "computer related".
More and more media players, mobile phones, cameras and the like. I mean to say a video wristwatch, a guitar? Come on!
To be honest if I am thinking of buying a new camera, or mobile phone, PCA would not be the place I would start looking. There are specialist magazines that do it better.
Don't get me wrong, the majority of the magazine is still vastly interesting, but I am getting to the stage where I am considering that I will choose to buy it each month, rather than have it sent come what may.
I take your point laurie53 these things don't interest me in the slightest but to be fair they are devices you can connect to your PC via USB and its only a little part of the magazine.
Although the items have no interest for me I think not mentioning them would be a mistake.
Don't want to see a huge in depth article about using the USB guitar but surely it makes sense to tell people there is such a device you can connect to your PC.
Digital cameras have to be covered after all many people own digital cameras and use their PC to edit and print them and use various bit of software for this so they should also be mentioned.
I am in 2 minds about the phones but you could make the same point as you can take photos and even surf the internet with them so again although it doesn't really interest me I can see why they are mentioned. Some of the top phones are getting to be mobile computers. You can't really ignore them completely.
