MP3 Players and OS

Why do most MP3 player reviews / adverts not specify OS compatibility ? I use W98SE and iPod requires XP ? Ironic that in order to be able to use an Apple product I would have to spend more money with Microsoft! (I did get a Philips which works well with W98)

Sometimes even the manufacturer's website is no help either. According to Creative, my Nomad Jukebox needs Win98SE minimum but other sites state win98 1st ed. No probs at all on 1st ed. Also the firmware upgrades stated XP but also ran on Win98 ??

It's not just mp3 players!

I was looking at a game for £9.99 and it had no reference to an operating system at all! Even got the girlfriend to check too, I never risked buying it.

I know the thread is about mp3 players but I agree it is silly practice!

As a matter of course now, when considering buying a new game I download and try the demo first. Only if the demo works do I then go ahead and buy the full game.
