"At least three other teams who have won University Challenge since 2000 have fielded ineligible players in the final, The Times has discovered.

The revelations follow the BBC’s decision on Monday to withdraw the title from this year’s winner, Corpus Christi College, Oxford, because one of its team members had graduated from the university halfway through the series."

All a bit of a mess really. Because the series is filmed over more than one course year, a final year student isn't able to participate lest the team make it to later rounds and they become ineligible under the present rule.

Back to the drawing board.

Is it possible the BBC are employing failed bankers to make these decisions?

would such a fuss be made over something so trivial. As if the fact of working as an accountant for a few months at the end of a university course would make the slightest bit of difference to a person's ability to answer questions correctly.

Who cares?

ITV should jump on the Trimble curiosity.

I am sure there is an X factor or would you Idol or something waiting to be produced there..

:-(

A colleague at IDG, who has written for PC Advisor in the past, won University Challenge in the 1970s,

He tells me that he was the only sitting student on his team!
