Cameron has told his they must resign if they vote to leave the EU.

click here that is illegal under electoral law?

He can no more tell his ministers how to vote than the boss of Tesco nan tell his managers how to vote.

Surely

They're voting on Whether to have Tesco economy biscuits in cabinet ...

Nothing new here, what do you think the Chief Whips job is ?

  bremner 16:11 08 Jun 15

Have you not heard of a three line whip

  morddwyd 19:43 08 Jun 15

Whips apply to votes in Parliament, not national referenda conducted under established electoral law.

The way I understood his demand was that members of the cabinet would have to resign their cabinet position. This of coure means that they would suffer a reduction in their pay.

I don't think he was meaning that any Tory would have to resign from the party.

I should have added that a referendum voten is secret and there should be no way DC or anyone else would be able to tell how someone had voted.

He was meaning that any cabinet minister who campaigned for the UK to leave the EU would have to leave the cabinet

Taken out of context by the media as usual. Not a great fan of Cameron but he did not say that.

It is always a good idea to read all of an article and not to rely on either the Mail or the Telegraph.

Don'tread either.

The thread was triggered by a BBC report, though I linked to Sky News.
