Microsoft have been ordered to pay the French Phone Equipment company "Alcatel-Lucent" ($1.52 billion (£777 million) by a US court after infringing audio patents. Alcatel had sued Microsoft saying that the patents related to the standards used for converting audio to mp3 files had been breached. It is said that Microsoft may appeal against the juries decision. Microsoft has already payed $16 to German Company Fraunhofer for "licensing MP3 technology"
